All hail Mrs. Carter: Beyonce puts a ring on the Yum! Center

BeyonceLast night’s nearly sold-out Beyonce show was the tits — in all sense of the word. The audience was fabulous, her dancers and backup band were fabulous, and she was the epitome of fabulous. She took the stage a little after 9:30 p.m. and dazzled the rowdy Yum! Center crowd with Sasha Fierce dance moves and many, many costume changes for more than 90 minutes.

Her all-female band was one of my favorite parts — sexy saxophone players, a kick-ass drummer, guitarists and … you get the picture. Queen B and her dancers mostly took front and center, but the band shined behind all that booty-shakin glory. Of course B sang most of her hits — “Irreplaceable,” “Crazy In Love,” “Halo,” “If I Were A Boy,” “Love on Top” and “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It).” Sometimes she’d stop singing and let the audience finish the familiar lyrics, and other times she’d just give you a snippet of a favorite hit and then move on to bigger and badder things — like getting low with the ladies or dressing in a purple sequence pant suit.

She announced it was her 100th performance, and even took on Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.” I know I’m not alone when I say the show inspired me dance more, dance often and dance like nobody is lookin’. Maybe one day my booty might shake like hers. We all have dreams.
