Today’s Reason To Drink

Forgive me faithful followers, but I was out galavanting around Kentucky yesterday at a bourbon distillery. As part of the media tour for the Bourbon Classic, I got to cozy up to the Buffalo Trace Distillery and watch how they make and bottle bourbon.

I saw the inner workings of Warehouse X, where master distiller Harlen Wheatley experiments with temperature and light control on aging barrels of bourbon. It’s a pretty cool $1 million facility. Also got to see the single-barrel operation of packaging Elmer T. Lee and Blanton’s. I wanted to take those cute hard-t0-find bottles home with me.

This weekend it’s more bourbon tonight at the Bourbon Classic, and then lots and lots of beer at tomorrow’s Tailspin Ale Fest. My liver is quivering.
