Yesterday I blew my top and posted a rant on Facebook. I didn’t post it here, because I know you all are tired of hearing about my disdain for online dating — although it’s not really keeping me off the sites.
Anyway, I simply said, “Dating Apps: Where the hope of singles goes to die.”
Sometimes by ranting here, there or anywhere helps me release some stress and move on. That’s what happened yesterday, and I was surprised to see so many people agree with me.
However, I did get a few messages from people who were 1) shocked I am single, and 2) kind enough to ask me out.
I know it’s shocking that I’m single — my mom can’t believe it either. Only kidding — about the first part. Of course I’m single. Who would want to date this? I go to the Back Door every Thursday, I laugh at my own jokes, and I have a weird dog. Plus, I still watch The Road Rules/Real World Challenge on MTV.
Now, I was flattered to be asked out, but that’s not why I posted the message. Also, only men asked me out, and when I politely explained that I am gay, only one looked beyond that little footnote and continued to give me his number. Hmm …
Whatever. I’ll take it — as a compliment.
