For their birthday, the Back Door purchased its own barrel of Old Forester, and tonight the bar is going to serve it in celebration! The bourbon is 90 proof, but they’ll be selling it for the regular price of Old Fo. Other drink specials at the Back Door on Thursday include discounts on import beers, and, of course, there will be a well drink on special as well — I won’t know what it is until I walk in and see the board. As all you faithful readers know, the Back Door is where I head every Thursday after work. It’s been a tradition since I moved here 14 years ago. Stop by the Unstable Table and say hello! Or better yet, buy me some of this Back Door Bourbon! Owner John says if you finish a bottle, you get to keep it!!

I’m going with a theme this week — dope drink deals! Wednesdays are usually big nights for half-price bottles of wine. You can find that deal at Café Lou Lou, Varanese, Rocky’s, Volare (at the bar) and 60 West.

I also hear that some of the Boombozz locations have “Wine for Nine” — all bottles are $9. Now that’s a deal! I’m trying to confirm that at the Highlands location at the moment. Will update this post as soon as I find out.

Big Bar and Maker’s Mark are giving away six special glasses again this Pride month — dipped in the colors of the rainbow. Last year they used rocks glasses with the Maker’s logo on them. This year, though, the glasses are tall and skinny, and have the Big Bar logo — way cooler! They’ll be releasing a new color each Monday through the month, and then might release one or two on a Thursday, so they can get them all in. Go like Big Bar on Facebook so you can get the updates of when and what color will be released.

The glasses are $10, but you get a free drink of Maker’s with it, and then it’s $5 a Maker’s drink from there on out. In fact, if you’re a big Maker’s fan but don’t care for the glassware, Maker’s will be $5 throughout the month of June for everyone, all the time.

I got a tip from a friend over the weekend: Ramiro’s, the Mexican restaurant on Frankfort Avenue across from El Mundo, has Patron tequila shots for $5 all summer long! That’s a great deal, especially if you love Patron as much as I do — chilled, with a lime. I was just at Ramiro’s on Thursday and had no idea this special was going on. Damn the stars!
