What-what!

Holy hell … after years of nagging and begging, the Mayor of Louisville finally responded to my request for the key to the city!! I was awakened early Saturday morning with the Tweet on the left. I immediately sprang to my feet and danced around my room. My dog secretly judged me, but I didn’t care.

I plan on finding the five best Old Fashioneds in town throughout the next few weeks. It’s gonna be tough to find time in between my book tour, but I’ll just have to put my head down and get it done.

Thank you, Mr. Mayor, for this opportunity. Although I prefer Manhattans, I can get behind an Old Fashioned any day.

Have a happy holiday weekend! I’m going to enjoy the Flea-Off Market, some mimosas, the Maker’s Mark Distillery, more mimosas, sleep, TV, mimosas, and mattress hunting, followed by more mimosas.

Bed hog

I think I’m going to buy a bed this weekend … and I’m nervous. My current full-sized mattress is about eight years old and feels like I’m sleeping in a taco. Every morning I am saddled with lower back pain, and I have to utilize my abs just to get out of the bed. My dog, however, is perfectly comfortable stretching out into my space.

So yes, I think it’s time for a new mattress — and this time I’m going to make it a queen, so he can have his own side and not kick me when he’s dreaming about chasing squirrels.

The pub crawl was a success — even with all the zombies biting at our necks. We had to skip a couple of bars along the way, and Cahoots was closed and NoWhere was charging a cover. But we made it mostly in one piece to Bearno’s.

I will avoid holding our No Cover Walk with the Zombie Walk in the future, mostly because it was just way too busy after we passed Wick’s. I’d rather just have the strip of bars to ourselves, and not flesh-eating demons.

Four days until my book release, six days until the pub crawl, and I can’t swallow. Could be strep throat, but hopefully not. Send me all your healing powers and pain pills, please.

I don’t even have an excuse as to why I haven’t posted all week … other than just being busy. I apologize for not making you a priority, and I will forever be in your debt. Please take this kind reminder that I’ll be selling pub crawl T-shirts tonight at The Back Door as an olive branch.

It’s a downward spiral but a fun ride.
