Today’s Reason To Drink

The Sidecar Diet is under way.

The Sidecar Diet is under way.

Not sure if you’re tired of hearing about my dumb diet, but just wanted to keep you updated. The first week I lost 5 pounds. Now I’m into the second week and am getting increasingly hungry and hangry. But I will carry on … I’ve got a looooonnnngggg way to go to reach my goal.

I was thinking about manipulating my diet a bit when it comes to drinking and calling it the Sidecar Diet. I was originally abstaining from beer of all shapes and sizes, and then I realized there were more carbs in my wine than in a Michelob Ultra!

So I think I’ll sip on a couple Ultras while I enjoy a bourbon sidecar. Sounds simple enough, and I get to enjoy the two spirits I love. I’ll keep you updated. Obviously the diet could go down in flames by adding beer … but we shall see.

Sorry, I’ve been hoarding these like a box of Thin Mints. It’s time for the purge.

  • My vagina is crying the snail trail of tears
  • I could do this to a watermelon, said Bill Cosby never
  • I’m gonna Kathy Bate your ankles!
  • I feel like if you were a man, you’d have a hard-on right now
  • I’d rather have a urethra on my chin than in my mouth
  • Can I come over and weigh myself after I poop?
  • I need to suckle a teet
  • I haven’t had a good solid poop since ’89
  • What God giveth, I drinketh
  • I’m gonna open a restaurant called Getup Bahn Mi
  • She’s done the Mexican Cloud Swing at Turners

Today’s Reason To Drink

I was having a zen moment listening to a Fleetwood Mac song this morning, and then, without pause, the screeching, nails-on-chalkboard, bitch-wine of I’m at a payphone, trying to call home ripped me from my solemn slumber. Anger and disgust replaced unicorns and rainbows. Fucking Levine.

Today’s Reason To Drink

louvinoI’ve been digging Louvino lately — a new wine bar that opened in the former De La Torre spot in the Highlands. You can get wine flights at a reasonable price, and I found a wine I love — Sledgehammer Zinfandel — for $7 a glass.

Of course I always choose the cheese pairings with the wine (only $2 more), and they add a nice complement to the delicious reds I’ve been sipping. The menu is great, too — mostly small plates and entrees that range between $7-$12.

If you’re a wine fan, head over to Louvino and check it out. You won’t be disappointed.
